The Green Party's €30,000 pay day as part of the Dail leader's allowance seems like some kind of bad joke. Not alone has the Party no leader in Leinster House, it simply has no TDs or senators.
A technicality may have allowed the party to collect these payments, but there's no way it should keep them.
This is the political party that was firmly booted out of office in the last General Election yet it has accepted a transfer of €29,883.42 of voters' money into the Party bank account.
Have they not learned from ex-TD Beverley Flynn, who continued to be paid her leader's allowance after she changed her Independent status to rejoin Fianna Fail? She had to repay it.
Don't insult us by hiding behind technicalities. Just give the money back.
