THE Sam Maguire Cup was home today and Dublin was in party mood. The county was celebrating a historic win in Croke Park and victory celebrations were in full swing across the capital.
Dublin's football heroes were being feted at a massive party in Merrion Square later this evening, where tens of thousands of fans will show their appreciation of the win.
In the Burlington Hotel last night, Bryan Cullen's heroes held their celebration party and many of the players partied into the early hours.
Cometh the hour, cometh the heroes and they were all wearing blue in Croke Park for a nerve-tingling final.
From Stephen Cluxton, the heroic winning point scorer, to Kevin McManamon, the scorer of Dublin's brilliant goal.
The Brogan brothers, Bernard and Alan, proved exactly why they are the two finest forwards in the country.
Throughout the team there were so many heroes, including Cian O'Sullivan who saved an almost certain goal in the first half, right through to Diarmuid Connolly who worked hard throughout.
Captain Bryan Cullen was today still getting lively comments about his legendary acceptance speech, calling the fans back to Coppers.
Fans were also celebrating the achievement of manager Pat Gilroy.
Gilroy has revolutionised this wonderful group of lads, from also-rans to All-Ireland Champions.
We can just hope that the brilliant tactician will stay around to see Dublin defend their crown next year.
