Editorial: Firebomb at Rose's home defies belief

A FIREBOMB attack on the family home of the 2009 Rose of Tralee almost defies belief. Charmaine Kenny's father, Detective Garda Leon Kenny, was inside the house with his wife when a petrol canister was set alight outside their house in Athy, Co Kildare.

Luckily, he managed to put out the blaze and no one was injured, no thanks to the cowardly perpetrators.

Charmaine, the London Rose, moved back in with her parents for the year she was crowned Rose of Tralee and had recently moved out again.

The potential consequences of such an irrational act hardly bear thinking about but they include the possibility of innocent people being badly hurt, or worse.

Those behind such a dastardly attack must be brought to justice as quickly as possible. Anyone with information should tell the Gardai.
