Editorial: FG Brussels trip is good

THE Fine Gael trip to Brussels to persuade the EU Commission to lower the penal 5.8pc interest we are paying on our euro bailout is welcome.

The European Financial Stability Facility is lending the money to Ireland at twice the interest rate it is paying for borrowing the money in the first place.

If there is any possible way of renegotiating our punitive interest rate, it is worth making an intensive persuasive effort.
