Enda Kenny's failed attempt to block Tanaiste Mary Coughlan's important mission to the US by refusing to match her with one of its TDs for Dail votes was far more than a tactical mistake.
It was a serious error of judgment -- one that is incomprehensible from a man expecting to become the next Taoiseach.
As Labour's Ruairi Quinn pointed out, Ms Coughlan's trip had significant job creation potential. It was not a junket.
The whole episode raises serious questions about Mr Kenny's capacity to lead the next Government.
With the country in the grip of an unemployment crisis, now was not the time to try to scupper any initiative to boost jobs.
Who exactly is Enda Kenny taking advice from? And how did neither he nor they spot this banana skin?
