Editorial: Death threat to shot boy is a new low

IT is a new low to see chilling death threats being made against the life of an innocent 14-year-old child. The family of the boy, who was injured during Monday's gangland murder of two brothers, have been plunged into an absolute nightmare.

The type of people who were involved in carrying out the double homicide have no respect for human life, and that is something that the child's family will be very concerned about.

We, as a society, share their concern and revulsion.

It is shocking to think that a child is sitting in a Dublin hospital having been shot.

The shooting of someone so young shows how gangland violence is spiralling out of control.

Gardai will now be doing everything in their power to assist the teenager.

But it is vital that anyone who has any information about the incident must come forward.
