CHRISTMAS RECYCLING is not just for presents

You've decided which gifts to, ahem, 'recycle', so now is the time to get rid of the rest of the post-Christmas mess.

Each of the Dublin councils has its own civic amenities which accept packaging, electricals and many take Christmas trees - but do check so you can save yourself a journey. Alternatively you can chop it up and put it in your compost bin over a few weeks.

I like Repak's Recyclemore app which lists all bring banks (www.repak.ie) and reminds you to include electrical items, remote controls and even electric toothbrushes.

Give batteries to www.weeeireland.ie which gives the proceeds to the Laura Lynn charity. Council Civic Amenity centres are free of charge, while some private facilities will charge a few euro per car load, so ask if you're unsure.
