J MAYBE it's because my interest in exercise is confined to simple walks on the beach – but I must say that I've never been a huge fan of Operation Transformation.
That said, having heard some of the participants on radio over the past week I've changed my tune – and have come to appreciate the huge sacrifices they're making.
It's one thing getting fit by yourself but doing it in front of the nation – not to mention the svelte Kathryn Thomas (left) – is all the more admirable.
Two per cent of Irish people, some 80,000 men, women and children, are now morbidly obese. We need to confront this. Operation Transformation is leading the way in raising awareness.
