GGay Byrne turned 80 this week. It's hard to think of a public figure who's had a longer career or - in many ways - a greater impact on many aspects of Irish society. From his work on The Late Late Show, to his morning radio show and his road safety campaigning of recent years, Gaybo's never been one to sit back. And he's still on Lyric FM, even now. Happy birthday.

MMinister Richard Bruton believes that we should pay water charges because we're getting 'Ballygowan standard' supplies. There's a small difference though. When it comes to Ballygowan you've a choice to go into a shop and pay for it. You've no such option when it comes to water charges, though.
