Bernard delight at Dubs return

"GREAT to be back!" That was the message from Bernard Brogan after he marked his Sky Blue comeback with a match-winning performance against Carlow last night.

"Tonight was first time back in blue this year, great to be back, I missed it!!!" Brogan tweeted after inspiring a largely experimental Dublin line-up to victory over Carlow in a challenge match at Newcastle.

The 2010 Footballer of the Year was the star man on show on the night and helped himself to around 1-5 from play.

Other All-Ireland heroes to feature included goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton, Michael Fitzsimons at centre-back (making his first appearance since going off injured against Kerry in the first round of the NFL), midfielder Denis Bastick and skipper Bryan Cullen, who came off the bench.

Midfielder Colm Murphy struck a second goal for the Dubs, who took the spoils despite a late Carlow comeback, while Nicky Devereux impressed at full-back for the Blues.
