I HAVE just finished reading Brian O'Driscoll's memoir. It is a fascinating and absorbing read about the life, times and extraordinary playing career of one of our greatest sportsmen.
I was surprised, though, that Brian has only given a brief mention in the book to his ex-girlfriend, Glenda Gilson. He was dismissive about his three-year relationship with the model.
There is a one-liner in the book that would rank alongside Rhett Butler's famous putdown to Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind.
O'Driscoll says: "By the time the night is over I've broke up with Glenda."
Now, what did Rhett Butler say? Ah, now I remember. "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."
