IT had been a dismal season for the Offaly seniors -- until last Sunday. It has been a pretty spectacular one for the Faithful U21s, toppling both Meath and Kildare -- until tonight, at any rate.
Offaly are clear favourites with the bookies but this is no straight-forward call between two sides that have bucked expectations.
Okay, so Colin Kelly's Louth were always expected to beat Kilkenny - just not by 50 points. However, the manner in which 14 men stormed into a 10-point lead against a fancied Longford, before a late fightback reduced the margin to two, suggests they must be taken seriously by Pascal Kelleghan's in-form crew, who get our tentative vote.
