THIS 15th century castle in Kildare could be purchased for a mere €50,000.
The White Castle, built by Sir John Talbot, Viceroy of Ireland in Athy on the banks of the River Barrow, is just one of dozens up for grabs at the latest distressed property auction.
It is expected to draw massive interest from overseas investors eager to get their hands on a bargain property and a slice of Irish history.
Prime property in Dublin's Merrion Square region will also come under the hammer at a rock bottom price in the auction next month.
A Georgian townhouse in the Dublin 2 location, which has a reserve not to exceed €1m, headlines the next Allsop Space Property Auction on July 6. And a three-bedroom duplex apartment near to Holles Street on Hogan Place in Dublin 2 is up for €160,000.
A Lime Street apartment near to U2's famous Windmill Lane studio could be purchased for €135,000.
The big winners at the May auction were the employees of the Sandhouse Hotel in Donegal who managed to buy the property and run the premises as a going concern.
Now, a 20-bedroom hotel in Wexford town, the Drinagh Court Hotel, is up for grabs for a mere €230,000.
Also in the May auction, part of an unfinished housing estate in Cavan attracted strong interest from potential developers looking for a foothold again in the market.
And now a similar development in Castlemaine, Kerry, is for sale as one lot, comprising 14 houses built to shell condition on 3.03 acres.
The entire scheme will have a reserve price set no higher than €50,000.
Robert Hoban, Director of Allsop Space says that the Dublin 2 properties are expected to lure crowds.
"We believe that number 26 Merrion Square will act as a very important benchmark to establish, with complete transparency, where the market is for prime Dublin city centre stock."
