Women line out for Tatler awards

THE country's top business ladies will battle it out this weekend with some of our most famous female faces to be crowned Irish Woman of the Year.

MTV starlet Laura Whitmore, Eve Hewson, daughter of rock legend Bono, Saturday star Una Healy and Love/Hate actress Charlie Murphy have all been nominated in the Irish Tatler awards.

UK-based designer Simone Rocha, musician Sharon Shannon, singer Sinead O'Connor and presenters Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh and Lucy Kennedy are also nominated.

Former Herald editor and current Irish Independent editor Claire Grady is among the 10 shortlisted for a Women of the Year award.

Love/Hate stars Charlie Murphy and Aoibhinn McGinnity will do battle in the Film and Drama category alongside Dublin actress Susan Loughnane and Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery.

Comedienne Deirdre O'Kane has been shortlisted for both an Arts and Literature and an Entertainment award.

One of the most hard-fought awards will be deciding who should be crowned Woman of the Year for Entertainment. MTV presenter Laura Whitmore is a favourite, but she faces competition from RTE presenters Maia Dunphy and Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh, TV3 host Lucy Kennedy, sports broadcaster Tracey Piggot and Dr Eva Orsmond.
