Woman in €13k cannabis trial

A WOMAN has been sent for trial accused of possession of more than €13,000 worth of cannabis at her Dublin home.

Sarah Coll (27) had a book of evidence served on her when she appeared in Blanchardstown District Court on the charge.

Coll, of Valeview Gardens, Finglas, is accused of having more than €13,000 worth of the cannabis resin with intent to sell or supply at her home on September 25 last.

She is also charged with simple possession of heroin at the Deadman's Inn Pub, Old Lucan Road, Palmerstown, the day before, September 24, 2012.

She was returned to the next sittings of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on June 7.

HUNGER PANGS TRAP CAR THIEF

A US woman whose car was stolen from her apartment complex spotted the missing SUV hours later – in the drive-through of the McDonald's restaurant where she works.

Virginia Maiden called police and officers arrested the driver, a 22-year-old woman from Washington State, at the restaurant.

Police also found clothes in the car that had been stolen from department stores.

20 DEAD AFTER

MINE COLLAPSE

At least 20 people were killed when a mine collapsed in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo following heavy rains.

The accident occurred at the mine near the village of Rubaye in the country's North Kivu province. Local officials were yesterday attempting to recover bodies still believed buried.

"We're still digging at the site, so the death toll could rise," said a government spokesman.

€1M OF COCAINE

FOUND IN CAKES

Two people have been charged with drug trafficking offences after cocaine worth up to £1m (€1.1m) was found hidden inside cakes at Gatwick Airport.

The haul was seized from baggage at the airport's South Terminal following the arrival of a flight from Jamaica. Two British nationals have been charged with attempting to import a Class A drug.
