Woman critical after horror fall under Luas

A WOMAN who fell under a Luas tram in south Dublin remained unconscious and in a critical condition today.

The victim is believed to be a 32-year-old from Tallaght.

She was caught between the platform and the tram itself at the Blackhorse stop in Inchicore just after 8pm last night.

The tram was just pulling into the scheduled stop when the incident happened on its route from Tallaght to the Point.

The women is understood to have sustained serious multiple injuries and was unable to assist gardai or hospital staff at St James's as to her identity.

A Dublin Fire Brigade ambulance paramedic crew tended her at the scene as she was freed from under the vehicle. The area around the Luas stop was immediately sealed off for a forensic examination of the scene.

Today gardai and Luas investigators were examining CCTV footage of exactly what happened. No passengers were injured.
