Wine sales up by 3.8pc

EXCISE reduction has helped the domestic wine market, with a 3.8pc increase in sales in the year to date.

The Irish Wine Association, Philip Robinson, said the small increase in sales in response to the excise cut is attributable to a decline in cross-border shopping that was losing significant revenue to Northern Ireland throughout 2008 and 2009.
