Wind energy jobs at risk

JOBS in the wind energy sector are at risk as uncertainty in the area continues to cause a 58pc drop in investment.

The Irish Wind Energy Association (IWEA) said an over-complicated bureaucracy was one of the major obstacles hampering the creation of a potential 10,000 jobs.

IWEA chief executive Michael Walsh said there was a 58pc drop, or €265m, in the level of investment in the wind sector in Ireland.

"The absence of a co-ordinated and cohesive system for facilitating the delivery of required installations to meet our 2020 targets is resulting in an unstable market for investment," he said.
