Win €10k ring for Valentine's Day in Herald's dazzling competition

Diamonds are a girl's best friend and the cost a boyfriend's worst nightmare, but one of Dublin's top jewellers has come to the rescue just in time for Valentine's Day.

McDowell's jeweller is offering this stunning €10,000 engagement ring to one lucky Herald reader as part of our new competition.

The O'Connell Street jeweller, which has been in business since 1870, unveiled the lavish 2.11 carat ring as our exclusive prize, perfect for Romeos thinking about going down on bended knee this year.

Sprinkled with a whopping five gorgeous Emerald diamonds set on a premium platinum band, the style is regarded as a modern classic.

The sparkly ring will be on display in the window of McDowell's next week.

Peter McDowell said: "It's a beautiful ring and we are very excited to be a part of a life-changing moment for a lovely couple. It is the perfect ring for a modern lady looking for something a bit more special and different.

"Right now this is the busiest time of year for engagements, with Christmas and New Years just gone and Valentine's Day and Easter right around the corner. It is a great way to remind people that we are here and we are looking forward to meeting the happy winner at an instore presentation."

To be in with a chance to win the ring, readers must enter our new competition, which will run from next Monday, February 8 until Friday, February 12.

Romantic readers must collect three unique tokens appearing on page 2 of the Herald every day next week and then answer a simple question, giving full details of their perfect idea of a proposal.

The answer and three tokens must be attached to the competition page and posted to Evening Herald Competition, PO Box 11, Independent House, 27-32 Talbot St. Dublin 1.

Grainne O'Shea, Marketing Director of the Herald, said: "We are delighted to team up with McDowell's jewellers for this special competition as both McDowell's and the Evening Herald are steeped in Dublin history.

"With it being Valentine's week we wanted to make it extra special for one of our loyal readers. Keep buying the Evening Herald for lots more exciting competitions.

"We expect there will be a lot of entries so good luck to everyone," she added.
