Dragons' Den star Gavin Duffy would prefer to take part in RTE's Dancing With The Stars instead of paying for a gym membership.
The entrepreneur (59) said that while he has not been officially approached by TV bosses, he would consider taking part in the dance show for his fitness.
"The one attraction for me in it is getting fit and the bit of weight loss," he told the Herald.
"Why would you be paying money going to a gym in January when you can do Dancing With The Stars? So from that point of view, I'd give it consideration.
"I've had no official approach or anything like that. I know the producer, Eugenia Cooney, very well. We go back to Dragons' Den, and they've asked me in the past and it hasn't suited in the past."
Duffy - a former presidential hopeful - was approached by the show's bosses last year, but turned down the gig because he didn't think it was "right" to waltz into the competition around election time.
"Genuinely, it's a fabulous show so I don't have any reservation about it. I was approached last year and I turned it down simply because I think it wasn't right to be a presidential candidate one month and the next month be on TV," he said.
"It just wasn't right. I'd give it consideration, but that doesn't say yes or no.
"I love the show. I go to it every season, I go to the final night. It's a great show.
"I understand the role of the sort of 'bad daddy dancer' type, and certainly I have no difficulty with that part."
His comments come after punters have been betting on the entrepreneur to be one of the most likely stars to join the line-up.
Duffy's odds have been slashed from 8/1 to 5/4 after he previously admitted he would like to take part in the show, BoyleSports has revealed.
Punters have also placed bets on Ray D'Arcy (5/4) , Ryan Tubridy (3/1), Dermot Bannon (7/2) and Ruby Walsh (5/1) as possible contestants to put on their dancing shoes.
Although the show is set to return to TV screens this January, RTE has not yet revealed when the line-up will be officially announced.
However, fans will get the chance to see last season's champion, Mairead Ronan, and other former contestants take to the stage once more during a live show tonight at the INEC in Killarney following a successful first show last night.
