White House camera ban is lifted

The White House has lifted a 40-year ban on taking photos during public tours of the executive mansion and has invited visitors to share their shots on Twitter using #WhiteHouseTour.

US First Lady Michelle Obama posted a video on Instagram announcing the change. It did not give a reason for the policy change but added some cameras and accessories such as so-called selfie sticks would still be prohibited.

The ban on photos was put in place after long queues formed as visitors were stopping often just to take pictures.
