HIS fall from grace and change in circumstances could not be more dramatic -- but Seanie FitzPatrick could afford a smile or two as he made a return to the K Club.
As the former chairman of Anglo Irish Bank, the disgraced banker -- pictured below in his heyday -- has been blamed for much of our economic woes.
But the only role he had to play yesterday was that of a proud father as he celebrated son David's nuptials.
Seanie and his wife Catriona beamed with pride as their son celebrated his wedding to Barbara Cleare, niece of K Club owner Michael Smurfit.
It is understood David and Barbara exchanged vows at a civic reception on Thursday evening before inviting their family and close friends to a lavish reception at the K Club yesterday afternoon.
Some 120 guests were invited to the intimate event, which took place in the smaller venue of the Palmer Club.
A beaming Seanie, wearing a tuxedo, looked tanned and relaxed ahead of the party.
Bride Barbara is a trained solicitor and her mother, also named Barbara, is a sister of the tycoon Michael Smurfit.
Seanie's son David is also a banker and is believed to have been living in New York for a number of years, while Barbara works for her father Peter Cleare's law firm on St Stephen's Green.
David popped the question to his bride-to-be in New York over Christmas.
And if guests were unsure as to what to buy the young couple, they could contact upmarket New York department store Bloomingdales for the couple's wedding gift list. The couple selected some 57 gifts with designer brands such as Vera Wang and Waterford Crystal featuring on the list. At the upper end of the scale is the Waterford Crystal Lismore ice bucket for $350, while a brooch for $13.99 also featured.
