What the papers say . . .

New Zealand Herald

The Kiwis are throwing their full support behind the Irish.

"They're a team comfortable in their green skin," the New Zealand Herald said.

"They're not going to blow teams off the park, but they're more than happy to wear them down."

The Italian press are mourning for a missed opportunity for the Azurri.

"We return home with our heads down," Republica said.

"It's over. And despite the efforts of all, this defeat is not at all honorable."

Sydney Morning Herald

The Australian press was somewhat muted today after they hammered our performance against Australia.

"The win saw Ireland atone for their failure to reach the last eight in France four years ago and meant they capitalised on their shock 15-6 win over Australia earlier in the pool," the paper said.

The Telegraph

The British press was full of praise for Ireland's performance. "Ireland, having ensured they qualified as pool winners for the first time with this hugely impressive victory, know they are on the cusp of uncharted World Cup waters," the Telegraph said.
