Weight-loss ads 'fake'

ADVERTISING campaigns for weight-loss foods use models with unrealistic body shapes, the majority of Irish women believe.

A total of 77pc of Irish women said that the portrayal of women in diet food ads is stereotypical and unrealistic.

The survey of women aged 25 to 55 by iReach, conducted on behalf of LowLow spread, found that the ads would make them less likely to purchase the product being advertised.
