A COUPLE remained in custody today after spending their planned wedding night being interrogated over a €9.5m cocaine bust linked to 'Fat' Freddie Thompson's gang.
Gardai arrested the couple last week after €2m worth of cocaine was uncovered at a house in south west Dublin.
Follow-up searches resulted in the seizure of a cache of pure cocaine worth over four times the value of last Thursday's haul.
The arrested pair -- a 29-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman -- were taken into custody after the discovery of a cocaine-mixing operation at the house in the Cushlawn area of Tallaght.
Detectives carried out a follow-up swoop at a house in Terenure on Sunday evening, where they discovered cocaine estimated to be worth €9.5m and two semi-automatic handguns.
The couple due to get married had not previously been linked by gardai to the criminal gang. They were due to fly out to Tenerife yesterday to get married and host their wedding reception for 200 people, it is believed.
Documentation was also seized in the raid, leading to hopes it will open up several new avenues of inquiry.
