Warehouse of stolen car parts

GARDAI discovered a "systematic" car-stripping operation when they searched a warehouse in Blessington, Wicklow, that was "jam-packed" with vehicle parts, a court has heard.

Stephen Fowler (31), of The Crescent, Millbrook Lawns, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to eight charges of possession of stolen car parts between June 2008 and August 2009.

Garda investigations established that the cars were stolen in various locations, including Knocklyon, Milltown, Firhouse, Malahide, Greystones, Stradbally and Carlow in 2008 and 2009.

The value of the cars ranged from €3,000 to €33,000.

Judge Desmond Hogan adjourned sentencing until October 18. He said he was not ruling out a custodial option.
