Netflix is giving renewed hope to those who wish to make it big in showbiz as they are back casting for extras for a spin-off to the hugely popular TV series, Vikings.
The streaming service first issued an open casting call for 1,000 extras from Dublin and Wicklow in early March for Valhalla - centred around life 100 years after the end of the original series, dramatising the adventures of the most famous Vikings who ever lived.
However, all casting and filming was put on hold in early April after the lockdown due to Covid-19.
In a statement, the company told those who had applied and turned up to the studio or applied by post that applications would remain "valid, filed away and used when we return".
They had been looking in particular for extras for crowd and battle scenes for the spin-off of the hit TV series Vikings.
Now plans by Netflix are now back up and running and Irish extras are still needed from August onwards. Those thinking of giving acting a go, do not require acting experience.
Vikings Extra said: "We will now be casting slightly differently, due to current circumstances we will not run any open casting days in Dublin.
"Filming is planned to begin in August so please apply as soon as possible. We are all-inclusive and would love to see applicants from all backgrounds. The production is based in Ireland."
Appearance-wise, they want to see "all types of adults" but previous job descriptions said men and women from all ethnic backgrounds are wanted.
Other specifications include being; "bone-thin, medium or broadly built, sporty types, tall, short, long and short hair, bald men and women, naturally coloured hair or be prepared to dye it, no beards and full-length beards down to your knees, grunge looks, undercuts, punk styles, amputees, crooked or missing teeth".
