War chests

MEET the neighbours from hell who just can't get along.

The battle of the bulge came to a head when Kildare manager Kieran McGeeney stood toe to toe -- or belly to belly -- with Meath boss Seamus McEnaney.

Afterwards McGeeney described the incident as "more tickling bellies than anything else". The fractious relationship goes back to the days when McGeeney was a centre-back star for Armagh and McEnaney managed Monaghan.

McGeeney came out on top at Newbridge yesterday as Kildare beat Meath 1-14 to 1-12, while McEnaney easily won the battle of the bellies.
