INDEPENDENT TD Mick Wallace was declared offside after trying to have the Dail suspended for Euro 2012.
The soccer mad politician, below, suggested that Leinster House should take a two-week break during next summer's tournament.
But Wallace won't be packing his bags for Poland or Ukraine after Tanaiste Eamon Gil-more red-carded the idea.
Mr Gilmore suggested that the Wexford man had scored an own goal by pushing for an early summer recess.
"It shows how much times have changed around here," Mr Gilmore remarked. "There used to be a time when opposition deputies complained about the length of the summer recess.
"This is certainly a first in that we have got a request not only to extend it, but to have it in June," he added.
