Violent disorder case adjourned

A WEST Dublin man is facing trial on charges of violent disorder, seriously assaulting another man and damaging a car.

Eddie Stokes (27) had the case against him adjourned when he appeared in Blanchardstown district court.

Stokes, of Foxdene Avenue, Clondalkin, is charged with assault causing harm to a Martin Stokes, causing criminal damage to his Mitsubishi Pajero and violent disorder with two other men at Old Lucan Road, Clondalkin on April 26.

He is also charged with dangerous driving and failing to keep a vehicle at the scene of an incident of damage to another vehicle.

CHURCH BUS CRASH KILLS THREE

A bus carrying teenagers coming home from a church camp crashed in Indianapolis, killing three and injuring 26 others.

Indianapolis fire department Lt Ato McTush said the dead included a man and a woman. He did not have information about the third victim.

Witnesses said the bus came speeding off an interstate highway on Saturday afternoon, struck a retaining wall as it tried to round a curve and overturned.

RUSSIA 'GOOGLE' BOSS DIES AT 48

Russia's largest search engine, Yandex, says its co-founder Ilya Segalovich has died. He was 48.

Yandex director general Arkady Volozh said that Segalovich died at a London hospital.

Segalovich was diagnosed with stomach cancer last year. He responded positively to chemical therapy, but then developed a brain cancer that caused his death.

1,500 TOLD TO LEAVE HOMES

Officials in British Columbia say 1,500 people are under an evacuation order after a truck carrying 9,250 gallons of jet fuel crashed into a river.

The truck was en route to supply helicopters battling wildfires in the Perry Ridge area when the accident took place.

The evacuation order is not mandatory, but a number of people have checked into emergency centres at three schools.
