This CCTV footage shows a brazen thief walk away from a Dublin motorbike shop with a rare Ducati and ask two innocent bystanders to load it into his van.
The daylight robbery happened at the Moto4U shop in Rathfarnham village on July 3 at lunchtime.
Video footage shows a man in a blue shirt wheel the 1100cc 2010 Ducati Hypermotard from outside the shop and across the road to a car park shared by the local Credit Union and an apartment complex.
After casually rolling the bike to the back of the white Nissan Primastar the man puts it on its sidestand so he can open the doors of the van, and then asks two men who are chatting in the car park to help him lift it in.
"It's hard to believe it could happen but the footage shows it as it is," said Bruce Misstear of Moto4U.
"We have tracked down the men who helped lift it into the van but they saw nothing strange in it because the guy was acting very casually," he added.
"He just opened the doors and said to the men 'give us a lift' and they obliged, not knowing the bike was being stolen," he explained.
Bruce said the sidestand broke on the bike as it was being put in the van, so the thief lay it on its side on the floor of the vehicle before driving away with it.
"The bike belongs to a customer who left it in for a small bit of work on the engine, and it was parked outside when it was taken," said Bruce .
"There are very few of those bikes around so whoever took it will find it hard to offload. It's possible it could end up abroad," he added.
The man who took the bike is described as being in his 30s with an Irish, possibly Dublin, accent.
The van is fitted with false registration plates.
