Victoria's Secret model Caitriona finds her TV sex scenes a turn off

SHE'S used to working in the spotlight but model-turned-actress Catriona Balfe found it very awkward shooting sex scenes for her new TV series.

The 33-year-old is enjoying a lead part in Outlander, the long-awaited adaptation of author Diana Gabaldon's best-selling books, and had to film intimate scenarios with two of her male co-stars.

Outlander, which debuted at ComicCon in July and is already being hailed as the next Game of Thrones, centres on English combat nurse Claire Randall who is transported back in time from 1945 to 1743 Scotland.

PASSIONATE

Finding herself living 202 years in the past, Claire is forced to marry charismatic highlands warrior Jamie Fraser, played by newcomer Sam Heughan, and a passionate affair then ensues.

Monaghan beauty Caitriona, who is the only Irish woman to ever walk the Victoria Secret runway, admitted the romantic scenes were not as racy behind the
cameras - and that it was all very
tactical and professional.

"I had the pleasure of sleeping with two gentlemen in the series; it's a lot
sexier on screen than in reality," the brunette said.

"There's a lot of mechanics to figure out and you have to wear modesty patches that don't protect your modesty, which is a little awkward."

Caitriona enjoyed her breakthrough movie role in the 2013 film Now You See Me, opposite Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo and Isla Fisher.

She also appeared in Escape Plan with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Outlander aired its first episode
last weekend and so far it has proved a
hit with TV audiences across the Atlantic.

"I didn't realise how many books had sold and how die-hard the fans were," Caitriona said.

"It's amazing that everyone was so welcoming when I got the job.

"And the story is captivating; it's leading up to the war between the Highlanders and the British Redcoats, but seen through the eyes of a modern woman," she added.

"There's so much spectacular action but at the same time, at the centre, is this love story between Claire and Jamie. It's incredibly exciting."
