A MAN accused of hitting another man over the head with a shovel has been sent forward for trial.

James Dunne (29) allegedly hit the man with the shovel during a fight at his home.

The accused, of Kiltalown Green, Tallaght, appeared before Tallaght District Court charged with seriously assaulting another man on October 5 last year.

He is also accused of producing a shovel during the course of a fight.

A state solicitor said the book of evidence was ready and had been served on the accused, who goes forward to the present sittings of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
