This is Ireland's latest victim of gangland murder posing with a man who is on the run from gardai in relation to the death of Real IRA terror chief Alan Ryan.

Our exclusive photo shows Donaghmede pals Paul 'Ralph' Gallagher and Robert Carroll (28) as they celebrated Gallagher's release from Wheatfield Prison in August 2012.

Lured

'Ralph' Gallagher (26) was lured to his death in a Co Meath field in the early hours of Tuesday morning and shot at least three times in the chest in a drugs related gangland murder.

Gallagher's body was found in open farmland at Ballymacon, Co Meath at 5pm on Wednesday and sources say that the drug dealer was set up by people he trusted.

Gardai have established that he travelled north on Monday night from Donaghmeade in a red 01 LH Volkswagen Golf along the M1 and took the Slane exit.

He was last seen in Donaghmeade at 10.30pm on Monday, wearing a navy tracksuit top, grey tracksuit-bottoms and white runners with a navy stripe.

It has emerged that Gallagher was on bail and was due to face trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court next year on 12 charges of possession of cocaine, heroin and cannabis for sale or supply.

Stretch

He had served a number of short jail sentences including a stretch from October 2011, to August 2012, for several minor criminal offences.

Gallagher was arrested and questioned in February of last year about the murder of Alan Ryan in September 2012, but was not considered a suspect.

His pal Robert Carroll is understood to be based in England after a court in London refused to extradite him back to Ireland in April.

Carroll is charged here with withholding information relating to the murder of Ryan who was killed by a north Dublin gang.

A warrant for his arrest was issued when he failed to turn up for a court hearing at Dublin District Court in April, 2013, and he was arrested in England and held in custody while awaiting extradition.

However a court in London told Carroll in April that he would not be sent back to Ireland as the alleged offence listed on the warrant - withholding information from the police in relation to Ryan's murder - is not one he can be extradited for because it does not relate to terrorism.
