Van tickets
for festival sell out in two hours

THE Limerick Jazz Festival has been given a major kick start after tickets for the opening concert by Van Morrison sold out in under two hours.

More than 900 tickets priced at €84 each were snapped up for the Limerick performance which takes place at UCH on September 27.

The Limerick Jazz committee secured its biggest coup to date when the global jazz star agreed to perform at next month's festival.

"I'm so delighted for the festival. We fully expected the Van Morrison concert to sell out but maybe in a day or two. We weren't expecting the tickets to go in less than two hours, it's just incredible," said John Daly Chairman of Limerick Jazz Society.

"We were thrilled when Van Morrisson expressed an interest in performing at our festival, which has a fantastic line up, and this is a rare opportunity for fans to get to see him up close," he added.

Now in its third year, this year's Limerick Jazz Festival will swing its way through the weekend of September 25 to 28.

This year's event has reached new levels to mark the city's National City of Culture designation with a line-up that also includes multi Grammy award winner David Sanborn.
