UTV's new show gets 2.37pc share

UTV Ireland breakfast show Good Morning Britain averaged only 2,700 viewers and a 2.37pc audience share on Monday, its first day of being broadcast on the station.

By contrast, TV3's Ireland AM averaged 61,700 viewers and a 32.25pc audience share on Monday, TAM Ireland/Nielsen figures show.

Last week UTV said it was going to introduce the show here because of audience complaints about its absence. The show is British but includes Irish news and weather updates to make it more relevant to audiences here.

But UTV Ireland performed better than TV3 later in the day, probably due in part to airing episodes of Coronation Street (left) and Emmerdale.
