TWO youths have appeared in court charged in connection with a series of incidents in Dublin on Friday.
The juveniles appeared before a District Court judge in relation to an attempt to hijack two cars, a robbery and the assault of four people including a garda.
Gardai responded to reports of an attempted car-jacking in the Castle Riada estate in Lucan at approximately 9.30pm.
A robbery was also alleged to have been committed and four people were assaulted in the space of half-an-hour.
As the youths tried to flee, gardai arrived to apprehend the two suspects, but a garda was also assaulted.
The two suspects fled the scene on foot but were apprehended a short distance away on the Castle Road after a search of the vicinity by gardai.
They were detained at Lucan Garda Station and appeared before Blanchardstown District Court on Saturday. They were released on bail and will reappear in court on February 26.
The injuries inflicted on the three members of the public are not believed to be life-threatening, while the garda has since been discharged from hospital. The four received treatment in James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, and Tallaght Hospital.
Witnesses to the incidents are being sought. Anyone in the areas between 9.30pm and 10.20pm should contact Lucan Garda Station on (01) 6667300.
