TWO teenage cousins charged with taking part in a burglary at a relative's home have been remanded in custody by Judge John O'Connor at the Dublin Children's Court.
The boys, aged 16 and 17, are charged with burglary at an address in Tallaght on Sunday.
Garda Colin Hetherington objected to bail citing the seriousness of the offence. He said the pair were seen by the home owner entering the home and were arrested after they were found hiding in a bedroom.
He said the pair were related to the home-owner who "since the incident has been living in fear".
Gda Hetherington also said he believed there would be interference with witnesses.
The boys who were accompanied to court by family members have not yet indicated how they will plead. Their solicitor Michelle Finan said they were not applying for bail at this stage.
Directions from the DPP need to be obtained to help decide if the case should remain in the jurisdiction of the juvenile court or instead go forward to the circuit court which can impose lengthier sentences.
