GARDAI chased down and arrested two men following an attempted post office robbery in Dublin.
The suspects, armed with knives, were apprehended with the cash in the Castlepark estate in Tallaght following the incident in Firhouse.
A total of 40 officers and the garda helicopter were involved in the chase and the money was recovered.
The huge operation swung into action when gardai were alerted to the robbery yesterday.
The assailants entered the premises in Firhouse and demanded cash from staff while holding a knife to a woman customer.
The customer subsequently received hospital treatment, though her injuries were thought to be superficial.
A garda spokesman said today that the two men remained in custody. A knife was also recovered following the incident, which happened around 5pm yesterday.
Meanwhile, gardai in Co Meath arrested two men following a burglary at a house in Dunboyne on Wednesday night.
Two men broke into the house wearing balaclavas and were thought to be in possession of a firearm.
The occupants were not injured and the raiders escaped with a small amount of cash.
Gardai later arrested two men, aged 41 and 24, in Blanchardstown in connection with the incident.
