Two pedestrians and a motor- cyclist were killed in separate road incidents over the weekend.
A 60-year-old man died after he was hit by a van close to Bailieboro in Co Cavan at 9pm on Friday.
The incident happened at Greagharue, around a mile outside the town, on the Bailieboro to Kells road.
The man, who was named locally as Brendan Heery, from Cormeen Lower, Mullagh, Kells, Co Meath, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was later taken to Cavan General Hospital for a post-mortem.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who was in the area between 8.30pm and 9.20pm, to contact them on 042 9694570.
Early yesterday, a 38-year-old woman died after being hit by a car while walking at Muinagh, on the Clara Road, just outside Tullamore, Co Offaly.
The incident happened shortly after midnight.
The woman, named locally as Zhulieta Stoimenova, was seriously injured and taken to Tullamore General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The male driver of the car (36) was also taken to Tullamore General for treatment, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses.

In Tipperary, gardai are investigating a road accident between Clonmel and Carrick-on-Suir on Saturday in which a motorcyclist died.
It happened at Deerpark, on the outskirts of Carrick-on-Suir, at 6.15pm.
Michael Sweeney (48), from Knocknaboola in Foynes, was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel.
The female driver of the car was uninjured.
