Two held over gun raid on cash van

TWO men have been arrested in west Dublin during investigations into an armed robbery on a cash van at a southside shopping centre last Saturday.

Gardai swooped on a house early yesterday and recovered a quantity of cash.

The two men, both in their 40s, are being questioned at Terenure and Rathmines garda stations

Because they were arrested under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, they can be detained for seven days.


The investigation centres on an armed robbery last Saturday when two men held up a cash-in-transit vehicle at the Orwell Shopping Centre in Templeogue.

The robbery happened at approximately 4.50pm on Saturday, April 7. One man was armed with what is believed to be a handgun.

They escaped in a car which was driven by a third person.

That car was found burnt- out close by.
