Two arrests after gardai seize €100k of cannabis

Gardai seized €100,000 worth of cannabis herb in a planned search of a house in west Dublin.

The raid took place yesterday and two people were arrested.

The bust happened at a house in the Coolmine area at 12.45pm, when a property was searched by officers based at Sundrive Road Garda Station, who were acting on intelligence.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and brought to Sundrive Road Garda Station for questioning.

A number of hours later, a 24-year-old man with an address at the Old Navan Road in west Dublin handed himself into gardai and he was questioned for a number of hours before they were both released.

A file on the case will now be prepared for the DPP and sources have revealed that neither of the arrested people was previously known to gardai for involvement in large-scale drug dealing.

In a separate operation carried out by gardai yesterday afternoon, a black airsoft handgun was seized when they searched a house in Drimnagh.

This seizure happened at around 3pm at a property on Galtymore Drive and officers did not arrest the 33-year-old woman who was in the property at the time.

It is understood that follow-up investigations are taking place today in relation to the airsoft handgun seizure to determine if it has been used in a spate of recent crimes in the locality.
