TV dance pair's secret romance

Strictly Come Dancing stars Kara Tointon, below, and Artem Chigvintsev got together two weeks after they first met on the show.

They shared a kiss on a date at the cinema but tried to hide their romance, despite rumours surfacing in the press, until after they won the BBC1 ballroom show.

Former EastEnder Tointon told Hello! magazine she realised she had fallen for the Russian soon after meeting him.

She said: "I knew pretty quick that I'd met someone special. "We were getting to know each other and I thought 'God, I really like him'."

The couple will be moving in together after they finish the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

Charges due in island carnage

Australian police will be laying charges over an illegal people smuggling operation that ended in tragedy last month when a boat carrying asylum seekers smashed against cliffs, killing 48 people.

Some 42 people were rescued from the water after the wooden boat carrying Iraqi, Iranian and Kurdish asylum seekers broke apart off Christmas Island.

Charges are being brought against those suspected of being responsible for the operation.

Missing boat crew found

The Philippine coastguard has found five missing Americans on board a catamaran reported missing on its way from Guam.

A search ship guided by a spotter plane located The Pineapple, after it was spotted off the island of Dinagat.

The catamaran left Guam on January 6 on a trip that normally would take seven to 10 days. Relatives sounded the alarm when it had not reached its destination by January 18.
