Warm tributes have been paid to Brian Quinn, a former editor of the Herald, who has died.
Michael Denieffe, former managing editor of Independent Newspapers, said the Dubliner was "a gentleman". He said Mr Quinn had guided the Herald during an era when the city had two competing evening papers, the Evening Herald and the Evening Press.
Mr Quinn was the editor of this paper between 1969 and 1976. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
