Trial venue to be decided

A YOUTH accused of trespass has been told clarification is needed on his trial venue.

The now 18-year-old was charged at the Children's Court with trespassing with intent to commit theft at Blakesville, Grangegorman Lower, Dublin, on March 9.

He was aged 17, when the alleged offence happened.

Maura Kiely, defending, said the Children's Court could still consider accepting jurisdiction because her client was a juvenile at the time of the offence, but the DPP suggested the Circuit Court.

Judge Elizabeth MacGrath remanded the teen on bail pending a hearing to clarify where he is to be tried.

Hightower dies at home

BUBBA Smith, who appeared in the Police Academy movie series after his National Football League career, has died aged 66.

The former Pro Bowl player was found at his home in Los Angeles and appeared to have died of natural causes. The 6ft 7ins Smith was selected by Baltimore in 1967 after a college career at Michigan State.

After retiring from the NFL, Smith began a TV and film career, appearing in Wonder Woman, Charlie's Angels and Eight is Enough, before becoming best known as Moses Hightower.

Niagra bid for tightrope walk

A TIGHTROPE walker's quest to cross Niagara Falls on a high wire seems to have US support but still faces a tough sell in Canada.

The New York Legislature has approved a bill to allow Nik Wallenda to perform the walk, but he still must win over parks officials in Canada.

Wallenda is planning to walk across the falls on a wire 2 ins wide and 1,800ft long.

Timberlake's guard arrested

JUSTIN Timberlake's bodyguard has been released after being arrested after a tussle with photographers.

The star, in London promoting his new film Friends With Benefits, was going for dinner with co-star Mila Kunis at Nobu in Mayfair when one of his staff scuffled with a photographer.

A Met police spokesman said: "Officers arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of common assault. He was later released with no further action."
