TRAVELICG sailing high with €30m profit

IRISH Continental Group, which owns Irish Ferries, has reported operating profits of €30m for last year – up 13.2pc on 2012.

Revenues were 3.4pc higher at €264.7m. However, car carryings year to date were flat, while passengers numbers were up 1.6pc at 1.57 million.

"2013 was a successful year for the group with a solid financial and operational performance in a competitive passenger and freight market place," chairman John McGuckian (above) said.

"The improving economic outlook in Ireland has encouraged us in our recently announced investment in the charter of an additional vessel, the Epsilon, which has been trading since mid-December."
