Trap’s men kick off €8m Euro 2012 party

LET the party begin. It's Olé Olé all the way after Giovanni Trapattoni and his team's four-goal blitz put us firmly in place for Euro 2012.

The Aviva will be a sea of green on Tuesday night when Trap and his players put the finishing touches to qualification for Poland and the Ukraine next summer -- our first time at the finals since the Charlton era of 1988.

The astonishing win over Estonia prompted joyous scenes from the 2,000 Irish fans in Tallinn as they consigned the play-off heartache of Thierry Henry's handball to history.

The FAI was also celebrating today with an expected €8m financial windfall from our appearance in the tournament.

"I want the fans to celebrate. They have made great sacrifices to support the team across Europe and at home and they deserve a chance to celebrate," a clearly delighted Trapattoni said last night.

"But first we must finish the job. There is still 90 minutes to play and we must show respect for our opponents. After that, we can have a party."
