Transport: Metro 'won't upset business'

DUBLIN Chamber of Commerce has been reassured that businesses in the city centre will not be affected by the construction of Metro North.

The RPA has announced that work on Metro North will begin in April 2011 and have agreed proposals for keeping the Dublin city region open for business during the construction.

Dublin Chamber has spent the past two years working with the RPA, Dublin City Council, other transport agencies as well as the Transport Minister to minimise the disruption to business and in facilitating meetings with the RPA.

A traffic management plan has been created to explain the areas that will be open for pedestrians and commuters.

The Chamber said that during the course of the works, they have been assured that access will be maintained for pedestrians and persons whose mobility is impaired to all premises fronting on to the works.
