Tragic toddler's inquest delayed

AN inquest into a two-year-old boy who was run over by a van was adjourned yesterday after 11 witnesses failed to show up.

Coroner Dr Kieran Geraghty adjourned an inquest into the death of Conor Gerard Conroy, of Deansrath Avenue, Clondalkin, Dublin, at Dublin County Coroner's Court yesterday at the request of the boy's mother, Joanne Barry.

The boy died of multiple skull fractures with brain injuries on May 19, 2009, after he was run over by a van.

Blaze victim fights for life

A MAN last night remained in a critical condition in hospital with burn injuries.

He was discovered standing beside a car with smoke coming from it near the bus depot at Broadstone, in Phibsboro, Dublin, about 4pm on Monday.

Two garda motorcyclists came upon the scene and saw a passer-by dousing the victim with a fire extinguisher.
