Trade boom forecast

THE World Trade Organisation expects international trade to rebound by an unprecedented 13.5pc this year. It raised its forecast because of a faster-than-expected recovery in global commerce.

The WTO now sees global trade growing at a faster rate than at any time since the data was first measured in 1950 as exports and imports surge, especially in China and other emerging economies. Last year, exports contracted by 12.2pc.
